Saudi shares fell by 15.5 percent on the week ending Thursday. The Tadawul All-Shares Index (TASI) closed the week at 13,261.89 points, up from last weeks close of 15,694.84.

SAVOLA Group [SAVOLA Group] was the top loser with its shares down by 59.97 percent. Other top losers include Aldrees Petroleum & Transport Services Co. [Aldrees] and Saudi Industrial Export Co. [Saudi Export].

Riyad Bank [RIBL] was the top gainer with its shares up by 0.45 percent.

Saudi Electricity Company [Saudi Electrc] was the most active terms of volume while Saudi Basic Industries Corp [SABIC] was the most active in terms of value.

Trading value for this week stood at SR52.64 billion ($14.03 billion) down by 0.45 percent.

The Saudi market is the largest in the Arab world in terms of capitalization estimated at over $400 billion.

After falling 15.50 percent last week, the Saudi stock market started this week with a fall of 1.1 percent. The Tadawul All-Share Index (TASI) closed 145.27 points down at 13,116.62.

Leading UAE stock indices took a deep dive yesterday to hit their lowest during the past 12 months. While the Dubai Financial Market Index slipped 4.5 per cent to 588 points, the Abu Dhabi Index was down 2.3 per cent to 3843 points. The national benchmark NBAD General Index was down 2.5 per cent 12,902 points.

Both bourses reported across the board losses yesterday as NBADs services sector subindex slipped 550 points. While the overall market turnover was down 17.6 per cent at Dh1.4 billion the total market capitalisation shrank more than Dh26 billion.

Share prices across the Arab region tumbled yesterday as investor confidence confidence suffered a set back from geopolitical tensions arising from Wests nuclear standoff with Iran.

The main index on the Saudi bourse, the largest in the GCC, closed the morning 2.7 per cent down at 12,765 points, but had looked set for another record-breaking dive in early trading when it fell more than 7 per cent.

The regions other bourses also closed down. Qatars main index fell 3 per cent as Bahrains market, the least liquid in the Gulf, closed 1.46 per cent down, posting its biggest one-day fall since a mid-March slump.

The Tadawul All-Share Index (TASI) rebounded yesterday after falling 7.93 percent on Sunday. The index closed 535 points or 4.43 percent higher at 12,611.74. The market turnover also increased to SR11.66 billion yesterday compared to SR8.33 billion on Sunday. Out of 79 shares traded, 61 were up while 17 were down.

Saudi stocks surged to a record single-day gain yesterday due to a sharp increase in major Banking and Industrial indexes.

The Tadawul All-Share Index (TASI) jumped 8.13 percent or 1,025.34 points to 13,637.08 after the Council of Ministers instructed authorities on Monday to take all necessary measures to stabilize the stock market. Saudi financial analysts, meanwhile, called for a specialized financial court to settle disputes related to the stock market. They also urged authorities to enact legislation to monitor boards of joint stock companies.

Gulf Arab markets held steady yesterday, with key bourses consolidating gains from a rally that has raised hopes the worst of an extended correction may be over.

The Saudi bourse, the region?s largest, climbed more than 1% after recording its highest single-day percentage gain in more than two years on Tuesday.

Bourses in Kuwait, Oman, and Bahrain also gained while the UAE fell.
